  • Belt, Covert Survival Kit
    • This is basic woodland survival gear concealed in the lining of a belt (HT31): compass (HT52), empty 1-quart plastic water bag, fishing kit (HT58), matches (HT57), micro-flashlight (HT52), multi-function knife (HT26), notebook and pen (HT17), sewing kit (HT31), signal mirror (HT58), snare (HT58), water purification tablets (see below), wire saw (HT25), and a few feet each of cord (HT56) and duct tape (HT26).

  • Load-Bearing Vest (Cutting Edge)
    • Holds 20 lbs of gear which can be used after a successful, appropriate Fast-Draw or a Ready maneuver. TL8.
    • $60, 1.4 lbs.
  • Large Tactical Light
    • 100-yard beam. HT52, TL8. Can be used as a baton in combat. A tactical light is bright enough to momentarily stun the opposition in potential surprise situations (p. B393). As well, those who look directly into the light must make a HT-4 roll or be temporarily blinded. Blindness lasts for 10 seconds times the margin of failure.

  • First Aid Kit
    • This kit gives +1 (quality) to First Aid. It can treat three major wounds or a couple of smaller ones. Contains a several bandages, two autoinjector with a dose of morphine (HT226), foot powder (HT221), insect repellant (HT221), salt tablets (HT221), ammonia inhalants (HT226), analgesics (HT226), antibiotic ointment (see Antibiotics, HT226), antimalarial pills (HT226), and water purification tablets (HT59).

  • Smartphone
    • A smartphone of the latest generation. TL8, has a Compass (+1 to Nav.), GPS Receiver (+3 to Nav.), Tiny Computer, Digital Camera, Map, Watch, USB Connector and several applications.

  • Small Radio (Encrypted, GPS) with a Tactical Headset (Cutting Edge)
    • A military handheld radio. 5-mile range. It is encrypted and has a built in GPS System and a throat-microphone. The throat-microphone actives itself only when whispering in order not to transmit battle noises.

  • Pen Flare
    • A disposable, pen-sized launcher, often found on the sleeve of military flight suits. Shoots a colored signal flare to 70 yards.

  • Z-Test
    • Five one-use kit for testing blood (just a few drops). Requires no special skill - a color change means you’re infected.
    • $25, 0.5 lb.
  • Military-Grade Binoculars (Rugged)
    • TL7. From the 1960s, binoculars such as these are often ruggedized. 10x magnification. They give Telescopic Vision 3.

  • Backpack, Frame (Cutting Edge)
    • Holds 125 lbs. of gear. TL8. Quality bonuses offset Stealth penalties for encumbrance, if bought additionally.

  • Sleeping Bag, Heavy
    • Sleeping Bag, Heavy. TL8. A modern waterproof versions using synthetics and could be advertised as “the best bed ever invented for outdoor sleeping.” Survival modifier: +3 in cold conditions.

  • Military Ration
    • A retort-packaged MRE or similar, with entree, side-dish, condiment pack, dessert, and meal heater (HT57).
    • $5, 1.5 lbs.
  • Water Pack
    • TL8, HT53. A 2-liter flexible bladder worn on the back, with a drinking tube that extends over the shoulder. The hose is bite-activated, so that the user can sip from it. Most backpacks can accommodate a water pack.

  • Go-Bar
